Well, Pharaoh finally released the Israelites!
We’re trying to give your child a chronological understanding of Moses’ life, so we start off each week by reviewing the previous week’s lesson (Last week, we studied the plagues). If your child attends weekly, they will get an all-encompassing view of Moses and how God used him. Ask your child what finally made Pharaoh let the Israelites go (The death of every Egyptian firstborn son, including his own.)
Today, we acted out the story of Exodus 13-14. As the Israelites walked, they followed a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Of course, Pharaoh had a change of heart, after realizing all of the labor he lost and “so he made ready his chariot and took his army with him, and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.” (Exodus 14:6-7)
Then, God told Moses to turn the Israelites around and go back the way they came. The Israelites thought they came out into the desert just to die, but God was still in control and had a plan! In fact, he even put a cloud between Pharaoh and the Israelites so Pharaoh would not be able to see them.
Eventually, Pharaoah’s army found Moses and the Israelites. Pharaoh thought he had them! Then, God told Moses to raise his staff, and the waters of the Red Sea parted! The Israelites went through safely, but when Pharaoah’s army pursued them through the Red Sea, the water came down on them, and they all drowned!
You can find this event in Exodus 13-14.
We had fun in Missionz Kidz!
This past Wednesday was our first week in Missionz Kidz. We are starting off this year with Dave Ramsey’s Junior’s Adventures curriculum. Your kids will learn what Dave Ramsey (and the Bible) teach about giving, saving and spending. Come join in the fun on Wednesday nights at 6:30.
Our goal this year, is to learn how to live like missionaries. This includes managing the resources God has given us, showing love to the poor by collecting food for them, and finding out what really happened when the world began. By the way, were dinosaurs on the ark, or were dinosaurs part of evolution? We’re going to learn all of that and more at Missionz Kidz! We hope to see your child there this week!
Each week, we have an activity for families to do together. Our main objective is to help equip you as you become confident in your role as spiritual leader to your child.
If you ever need support in training your child in the way he/she should go, don’t hesitate to ask us or contact Tonya Lawson, Director of Children’s Ministries, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Memory Verse Activity
The memory verse for this activity is Exodus 14:31 “Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.”
If your child knows this verse next week at Children’s Church, they’ll get five extra bucks. That means they could get eight bucks if they come to Children’s Church, bring their Bible, bring their signed Parent Connection, and recite the verse.
If your child brings this back to Children’s Church, they will get an extra ticket in the treasure box.
Our family did this activity together.
