“I Will Sing And Make Music”

That phrase comes from Psalm 57:7. David, after pleading with God for His mercy, and deliverance, in the midst of dangerous and desperate situations, makes this awesome statement of faith.

“My heart is steadfast, O God. My heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul! Awake, harp (piano) and lyre (guitar)! (My interpretation) I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing of You among the peoples, for great is Your love, reaching to the heavens; Your faithfulness to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be over all the earth.” (Psalm 57: 7-11.)

Nothing blesses me more than to hear First Baptist Chandler making music and singing of God’s great faithfulness. Every time we come together as a church family, I believe Satan shudders, when he hears the saints of God praising God in song.

I know we all face difficult and even dangerous, and surely, frustrating times in our lives, when our old enemy, Satan, is trying to discourage us, or trying to make us fall into some stupid sin to ruin our testimony, or overwhelm us with deceptive lies.

It reminds me of a movie I saw, where prisoners of war were being beaten, starved, abused and tortured, yet in the midst of it all some brave soul began to sing, and one by one, others picked up the tune and the words, till the whole camp was filled with the sound of victorious singing. How discouraging it must be to one trying to break your spirit, when, instead of crying and complaining, you begin to sing. May we always be reminded of God’s faithfulness even in dark days, and break into song of God’s glory and greatness. Put Satan in his place. For greater is He that is in us, than he that is in this world.
