The Ostriches are Coming March 8 – 10!
HELP WANTED
The Ostrich Festival needs you!
Even though we are shivering now, Spring is just around the corner and you know what that means… the 25th annual Ostrich Festival will soon be here. March 8-10, 2013.
We need your help! This is a fun outreach opportunity right in our backyard at the Chandler Tumbleweed Park with 250,000 to 350,000 attending each year. Did you know that every time FBC has a booth out there, we have been the only Christian church! In the thousands of people attending and the hundreds of booths representing, we are the only ones sharing the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s amazing and we shouldn’t let this opportunity slip by.
For those of you who are thinking, what is the Ostrich Festival, let me give you some brief info. It is a huge celebration complete with Ostrich races, Ostrich themed activities, entertainment, carnival rides, food (including Ostrich burgers) and more!
So what can we do? I’m so glad you asked. FBC has a booth out there with some wonderful giveaways and we need your help. We need people to help ‘man’ the booth. We need “happy, happy, happy” faces, no less than two but preferable four people per shift especially during the busy hours. It does require a lot of standing so keep that in mind. The shift is only 2 hours long so over the course of the 3-day event that adds up to quite a few people.
We have a drawing to give away a cool BMX bike and also a coveted electronic (such as a Kindle Fire). These items help draw the crowd in to sign up for the giveaway. Of course we have lots of free candy for the kiddos and while they are there, we thank everyone a million with the million dollar bill gospel tract just for stopping by .
They all love it and many come back for more. We have other fun tracts out there for the kids and Bibles in case someone needs or wants one.
In addition, this year we will also be giving away the new movie Genius! I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to see it yet. It is an amazing 33 minute movie that you can view for free at www.geniusthemovie.com It is very evangelistic. People love free stuff and of course we don’t have enough for everyone so these will go fast! This is a great way to get the gospel into their hands and remember, no one else is doing it!
So, if you can help by working a shift, we would appreciate it.
All volunteers will get in free to the event so you can enjoy the festivities before or after your shift, what a deal!
Festival takes place at Tumbleweed Park, on the southwest corner of McQueen & Germann Rds.
