As some of you may know, this year is a huge year of exciting changes for our family. With the births of our grandsons, Grayson, Patrick, and Cruz, along with the soon expected grandchildren of McKayla, Curtis and Grant our blessing pool has expanded. I am so blessed as I think of all the gifts our Heavenly Father has poured out upon us.
In James 1: 16-18 it says, ”Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.”
Every good and perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father. Have you ever tried to think of and count your blessings. If so, I believe you will find you have more than you know. When I think of how He saved me, how He forgave my sin, I am reminded where he found me, and how He broke the chains that had me bound. I have a home in Heaven that He has made for me. I start to get overwhelmed with joy and thankfulness. Then when I add to that the great blessings of parents who love Him, and taught me the word of God, my sweet wife, children and grandchildren, my heart is full. And I am not done yet, you, my FBC church family, have been incredible sources of love, friendship, encouragement and comfort. What a joy is mine to work with such an awesome pastor and staff, and serve with wonderful people of God called out to be “Salt and Light in our community.” WOW!! I am getting excited at all the good things the Lord has done and is doing.
Then when I know that God did this out of His own will, and has made us “first fruits” or in other words His Masterpiece of creation, that is the icing on the cake for me.
Maybe you should try counting your blessings. I bet you’ll get excited as well!
