Decade – 10 years.

In May of 2003 I had the great joy and honor of becoming the pastor of First Baptist. We have been here for a decade. That is 3653 days! Jerri and I have had three of our children graduate from high school here. Our oldest daughter was married at FBC and our youngest child was baptized in a horse trough behind Hamilton High School when our church was meeting there since we had no building of our own. It has been a wonderful ten years and God has done so many amazing things. We look forward to the next decade of serving with you. To celebrate our tenth anniversary at FBC Jerri and I are … [Read more...]

What is Bible Storying?

Bible Storying small groups meet in homes all across the Southeast Valley. The groups gather for an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. There is a brief ice breaker, prayer time, worship (testimony,  favorite Bible verse, poem, etc.), the Bible story, rebuild the story, discussion time, and snacks. The goal is that people will know the narrative of the Bible better and to introduce non-readers to some of the great stories of God’s Word. These small groups are open, which means that you can begin at any time. There are a variety of host homes available on almost any day of the week. … [Read more...]

The Light Has Come

“To our darkened world a light has come; to our broken hearts a day of hope has dawned. The mountains and the valleys lift their song, declaring the arrival of the Holy One. On the earth His love has shown we are not alone. God is with us, He has come to save us; Mercy lights the darkness; Christ is here. God is with us Healer of the broken; work of heaven spoken, Christ is here.” These words taken from the song, “Christ Is Here” by Todd Fields, Seth Condrey and Eddie Kirkland, one of the songs we sang at our Christmas concert, so powerfully speak to us today. How we need light in a … [Read more...]
