Trusting God For The Unexplainable

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3: 5-6 To know that God will direct our paths if we trust Him and acknowledge Him in ALL our ways, is true security. God will not let us make a wrong move if we are truly seeking His face. I believe that God has some tremendous plans for FBC. Let’s be a people who trust our Lord and Savior. Let’s not be afraid to go where He leads us. Let us look forward with joy and anticipation to the exciting days ahead, as we gather at the … [Read more...]

Cecil Sherman tells of his foundational theological education. It was by his mother: “Where did I come from? God made the world, made Adam and Eve, and made me. Who am I? I am a child of God. God knows me, and I am a little bit like my Heavenly Father (the image of God). What is right and what is wrong? The Bible is authority; it lays out great principles that answer the right-and-wrong question. Why are there bad people? The reason given was sin. What will happen to me when I die? There will be an accounting/judgment, then heaven or hell. Mother was not concerned about damaging our … [Read more...]

“Living With Promises” “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear or be dismayed.” Deut. 31:8. How many times have you been in a situation where you felt afraid or downtrodden? We all experience such times, because life deals blows. Without God, such times could seem hopeless. When faced with a fearful situation, even a Christian might be prone to panic. The human factor comes into play. With Christian maturity, however, comes trust and ability to rely upon the great promises of the Scriptures, such as … [Read more...]

As we begin our focus this month on praying for revival, I want to share a quote from one of my favorite authors – A.W. Tozer. “Among revival-minded Christians I have heard the saying, “Revivals are born after midnight.” This is one of those proverbs which, while not quite literally true, yet points to something very true. If we understand the saying to mean that God does not hear our prayer for revival made in the daytime, it is of course not true. If we take it to mean that prayer offered when we are tired and worn-out has greater power than prayer made when we are rested and … [Read more...]

With Valentine’s Day in February we turn our thoughts to love. I feel so sad for those who never experience love. Not the love of a father, not the love of a mother, not the love of a sibling, not the love of a spouse, not the love of a friend. The worst of all is to never experience the love of God. The word love is in the Bible 560 times. The word judge occurs 314 times. Many of the judge verses relate to making a judgment, not punishment. As a matter of fact, punish only shows up 114 times in the Bible. Our God is truly a loving God. What is amazing is that love in the Bible is … [Read more...]
