fbc god's army vbs 2017 logo 600x300

June 19-23, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m This year’s VBS is called God’s Army and our Biblical emphasis is the Armor of God.  During the week of June 19-23, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., boys and girls from 4 years old to 6th grade (as of June 19) will enjoy an army-themed boot camp while learning about God's words. Throughout the week, the kids will play fun games, sing awesome songs, and make crafts that reinforce the Bible. Our plans this year include more emphasis on the gospel, Scripture memory, and teaching the kids how to use their Bibles. We want each and every child to leave at the end of the … [Read more...]

Today’s lesson…        John 10 Jesus showed us an illustration in our lesson today. You’ve heard the Bible refer to sheep repeatedly, and in John 10, He explains this illustration. In Bible times, most people had a flock of sheep, so this was a familiar topic. Every night, the shepherd would bring his sheep into what was often high walls built of stones. He would count each one as they entered, then lay across the doorway to protect them from thieves or wild animals. The sheep knew their shepherd. They trusted him and followed him. If someone else tried to lead them, they … [Read more...]

Today’s lesson…        John 9 Our story today is about a blind man. He had been blind since birth, so life was limited for him. He would spend his days sitting on the road, hoping people would have pity on him and give him money so he could buy his necessities. One day, Jesus and His disciples saw the man, and the disciples asked if his blindness was due to sin. In John 9:3, Jesus’ answer was, basically, No, it was not because of his sin. He was blind so that “the works of God might be displayed in him.” I get so excited when I read Scripture like this and think about … [Read more...]

Pastor's Blog

I turn 53 this month. I don’t know why it occurred to me but that means nothing. I remember when I was 30 because I graduated school for the last time that year. After 9 years of higher education I was finally done. I don’t remember 40, probably because we were in the middle of raising four great kids and I was too busy to notice. The only thing I remember about 50 was my son said “dad, what’s it like to know your life is half over?” I thought “awesome, he thinks I’m going to make it to 100!” When I get to 55 I can begin getting discounts at some places. Woohoo, I … [Read more...]

Today’s lesson…        Matthew 6 and Luke 9 Before I summarize today’s lesson, it’s important that you put yourself in the shoes of the disciples. The message of the coming Messiah had been passed from generation to generation to generation. It’s easy for us to be convinced that Jesus was, of course, the Messiah  prophesied, but the disciples and others who crowded around Jesus in Bible times didn’t have that confirmed faith. He said He was the Son of God and the Messiah, but He still looked like them—a mere man. Obviously, Jesus knew this, after all, He’s God, but … [Read more...]

Parent Connection (April 16, 2017)

Matthew 14 & John 6 In our lesson today, Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist has been murdered by King Herod. Understandably, Jesus was sad and wanted to spend some time being quiet. He got into a boat and went into the Sea of Galilee with His disciples. (Remember, these men were His best friends.) Well, as with any celebrity, the crowd found this Healer, Preacher, possible Messiah and wanted to hear Him teach. Most would have thought, “Can I just have two minutes to myself?” but the Bible says Jesus had compassion for them. They needed His love and Truth, and He was happy to share it … [Read more...]
