“A Reason To Sing”

Have you ever wondered what reason we have to sing about anything? Songs are usually written for a reason. Many songs are written to express a deep love for someone or a broken heart from a love rejection. The joke about country music is it has to include at least one reference to a train, a truck, a broken heart, mama, and prison.

In reading Colossians 3 this week it reminded me of my reason to sing. Colossians reminds us where we used to live in our sin, but because we have been crucified with Christ, forgiven by His blood, we have been raised with Him to walk differently. We do not have to walk in the old sinful life we used to walk in, but we are now clothed with compassion, kindness, and all the things that are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. We are implored to “let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts…and be thankful.” We are to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

That is why I sing! I am so grateful for what Christ has done for me, I cannot help but sing His praise. I hope you understand the power you have when you sing His praise. A church that sings God’s glory, makes Satan cringe in agony. May we always have a reason to sing!

Praising Him!
