We have multiple televisions in our house. Most of them are HD flat panel TVs and have a DIRECTV box hooked up. We have somewhere around 700 channels. You read that right - 700, not 70 but 700! However, I only watch a few channels. History, History 2, American Heroes (formerly Military), Science, Discovery, ESPN lineup. I don't want to waste time with worthless shows or channels. Life is much like DIRECTV. We have more choices than we can fathom, yet in reality we concentrate on only a few of those. Make sure you pick the right "channels" of life to focus on. God, the Bible, family, … [Read more...]

What does “Maturity” look like?

Sometimes things just strike me funny. Maturity is one of those things. You see the young trying to look “grown up” by their dress, make up, trying to grow beards and moustaches, anything to make them look more mature. Then on the other side you have those who are supposed to be mature trying everything to look younger. There are more advertisements for hair color, hair transplants, wrinkle removers, tummy tucks, chin lifts and an endless list of other products to make you look and feel younger. Now I’m not saying any of these things are bad. It just strikes me funny. Maturity is an … [Read more...]

A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR

According to the American Bible Society 88% of Americans say their household owns a Bible. That is good news. 82% of Americans consider themselves knowledgeable about the Bible. That number is higher than I would have expected and is really good news. 43% of Americans can name the first five books of the Bible. I guess what Americans say about themselves is better than reality. Half of the people who said they are knowledgeable about the Bible apparently don't know it very well. This reminds me of the parable Jesus told about two sons. A father asked the first son to work in the vineyard … [Read more...]
