That is the term developed by Christian Smith and Melinda Denton in their book Soul Searching: The Religious and Spiritual Lives of American Teenagers. The idea is that today's young adults believe in God, but their understanding is that God exists but is not directly involved in our everyday affairs - deism. The goal of our existence is to live a good life that makes us feel good about ourselves - that is the moralistic and therapeutic piece. Taken together, the current trend in American Christianity is to believe in a God Who helps us when we need it so we can be happy and feel good and … [Read more...]

Ray C. Jones, Pastor to Students Pastor to Students Greetings on behalf of my whole family! Neicy, Olivia and I are very appreciative to the FBC family for all of the love you share with us continually. Please continue to pray for us as we make Arizona and FBC our new home. Seeking to IMPACT, Rather Than to IMPRESS While I consider myself pretty handsome, intellectual, intelligent and even a bit witty, the Apostle Paul said it best in his epistle to the church at Philippi: “ …But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Evangelism Tip

"April showers bring May flowers." Did you ever hear that? That's what they used to say when I was a child. Of course we didn't live in Arizona so it was true. Here is Arizona we don't typically have a lot of April showers but we sure had quite a few in March, even hail. You just never know. So here is an easy evangelism tip for any weather condition. First of all, arm yourself with biblical, innovative, fun, gospel tracts such as the business card size IQ tests, the million dollar bill, and the wallet. All of these can be found at www. livingwaters.com. The business card IQ tests slip … [Read more...]

Evangelism Tip

March is a busy month with parades, parties, and celebrations. This month Saint Patrick's Day and Easter (Resurrection Day) will be celebrated so I wanted to share with you some fun easy ways to evangelize using these events. There are some colorful "Lucky Bucks" with the Lucky Charm leprechaun on the front that are a fun tract to hand out at St Patrick's Day parties, parades, or just in general to people you come in contact with this month. They love them and it's as easy as saying "Happy St. Patrick's Day!" If you want to be more incognito, you can fold them up and easily slip them … [Read more...]
